Vegetative awakening
During vegetative awakening, as daylight hours lengthen and temperatures rise steadily, turf needs first-rate, readily assimilated nutrients. The main goal is to restore full metabolic function as early as possible, in step with the recovering climate. For this phase Comagricola Green Europe offers DUO, formulated to work even at low temperatures.
Consolidation
The spring months bring growth and peak vegetative vigour to the turf. Spring offers the best possible conditions: reliable rainfall, ideal average temperatures and light that gradually reaches its annual peak in duration and intensity. For the consolidation phase Comagricola Green Europe offers QUADRO, a ternary fertiliser with balanced nitrogen release and the correct supply of phosphorus.
Stress time
May opens the riskiest and most stressful period for cool-season turf. To cope with the high transpiration caused by high temperatures and the associated risk of wilting, grass plants regulate their water balance by cyclically closing their stomata, which inevitably slows photosynthesis, growth and the plant’s own defences. For heat and water stress Comagricola Green Europe offers THERMO, a high-potassium fertiliser with slow-release nitrogen only.
Regeneration
When summer stress ends, it is time to clean and regenerate the turf. Cleaning removes the senescent material left by the stressful months; regeneration takes advantage of the newly favourable climate, offsetting the natural loss of grass plants by overseeding with selected seed. For sowing and overseeding Comagricola Green Europe offers a ternary starter fertiliser with a strong rooting boost, suitable for every seeding method.
Preparation for dormancy
Winter, in reverse, brings thermal peaks and evapotranspiration imbalances similar to the summer ones, with equally stressful effects on the turf. To prepare for dormancy Comagricola Green Europe recommends DUO: applied between October and December, it eases the turf into semi-dormancy and strengthens plant cells thanks to its generous potassium supply.

Description
With DUO we have developed a titration suitable to work even at low temperatures: the generous nitric fraction of the nitrogen supply is rapidly solubilised, making it immediately available for radical assimilation even in extreme conditions. Our turf will therefore be able to enjoy the right nutritional intake from the first timid phases of vegetative awakening gradually, favouring the climatic improvements of the period.
This turns into a decisive greening and fast closing of the mantle, counteracting the future development of weeds, unable to find a useful space in the thick of the lawn. The absence of phosphorus, which is not essential in this phase where weeds could benefit from their rooting, makes DUO the true fertiliser with the “no-Weeds” philosophy.
The important percentage of methylenurea determines its prolonged effect, while the surprising ratio between nitrogen and potassium (the latter entirely from potassium nitrate) guarantees its qualitative excellence from a nutritional point of view.
Applied between October and December, DUO helps the turf enter semi-dormancy correctly. Thanks to its generous potassium supply, DUO builds reserves inside the plant and strengthens cells against winter temperature and water stress.

In the periods immediately preceding the most critical climatic phases, characterized by high values in evapotranspiration or extreme thermal peaks (meaning also the winter ones, close to zero), the distribution of a “high potassium” fertiliser helps the plant to defend itself from the risk of withering, thus keeping active all the metabolic processes essential for one’s survival.
By conditioning the water potential, the potassium ion is directly involved in the regulation of the opening of the stomatal rhyme and in the same way guarantees the right turgor to the vacuoles and therefore to the plant cell. At the correct doses, the best ally for a healthy plant ready to counteract any adversity.
Another of the characteristics that make THERMO the ideal fertiliser for the summer months is represented by the limited supply of nitrogen; this, present exclusively in methylenureic form with a “slow-release”, will satisfy the reduced needs of our turf (slowed in its metabolism by temperatures), but certainly will not support the voracity of annual weeds typical of the period. A philosophy also extended to phosphorus, absent here: by totally excluding it, we avoid facilitating the rooting of weeds that may already be present or have reached the ground in the form of seeds.

With O-Micro Turf-on presents its own interpretation of the new fertiliser trend, aimed at enhancing and increasing the most purely biological characteristics of the soil: speed of mineralization of the organic substance, balancing of the bacteria/fungi balance, correct enzymatic activity, the release of otherwise unusable elements, resistance inductions and more.
In summary, a new approach aimed at protecting and correcting the biomass quality of the topsoil to its advantage. This objective can only be achieved through the use and distribution of organic matrices of certified origin, “alive” and dynamic, which can not only bring substance but trigger a virtuous path that reactivates what is already potentially supplied to the land.
By creating O-Micro, Turf-on has created the perfect answer to all these needs, with particular attention to the characteristics that a product must possess to best support the maintenance work, without any contraindications: hence the homogeneity of the micro diameter, also for distribution on stoloniferous and rhizomatous plants, and for the elimination of unwanted odours, an indispensable condition for its use without limitations.
The result was obtained by sifting and mixing only two components: on the one hand certified manure matured according to its certification protocol (therefore 9 months and without artificial accelerating forcing of the maturation process), on the other hand, and in equal quantities a virgin vegetable panel of unique nature, with marked “odour-absorbing” virtues; the first guarantees the bacterial load that triggers all the virtuous processes mentioned above, the second acts as an excellent “combustible” organic substance.
No compost, no hides, wool, blood, nails or bark, nothing that is not perfectly compatible with plant biology and rapidly mineralisable.
But in O-Micro, in addition to all this, we find fractions of phosphorus, potassium, microelements and important percentages of 18 precious amino acids: glutamine, glycine, aspartic acid, tryptophan, arginine, lysine, proline, leucine, isoleucine, serine, alanine, histidine, methionine, valine, tyrosine, threonine, cystine, phenylalanine. Amino acids are essential elements for the metabolic processes of the plant, the lack of which would represent a limit to the harmonious and correct growth, they significantly increase the stomatal functioning in the leaves, the absorption of microelements, the chlorophyll photosynthesis, the production of auxins, the resistance to thermal stress, salinity, wear from trampling and passage, reinforce the cell walls and regulate the osmotic balance of the plant cell.
